Brighton Rocks 2 "We've Gone on Holiday by Mistake"! 2021
Keira Rathbone has developed her own unique technique of drawing by using the different letters, numbers, and symbols from a manual typewriter to produce images. She sees ‘each imprint as a texture or shape with which to build complete images.’
In this busy and detailed monochrome scene with flashes of red, Brighton’s promenade bustles with day trippers, bicycles are chained to the railings and the beach is thronged with people. The derelict West Pier can be seen in the distance and the eye is drawn upwards by the tower of the i360, Brighton’s vertical pier.
