Emily Kirby’s leopard prowls powerfully across an olive-green background. The front paw is painted with the colour and pattern of a leopard’s fur while the rest of the animal is abstracted with colourful shapes in greens and blues and sections with brushstrokes in contrasting colours and areas of white. The leopard’s face is painted in pinks with defined areas of blue, yellow, orange and brown.

Emily Kirby works and lives in Hove. Her work is influenced by the different places she has lived which include Zambia, Spain and New Zealand. Emily’s semi abstracted figures are often placed within scenes of nature. Her paintings are an exploration into colour and form. She uses combinations of layered block colours in her signature muted palette with pops of brighter colours to form her figures, often sculptural like. She has been described as ‘one to watch’ by Sky Landscape and Portrait Artist of the Year judge Kate Bryan.
